2022 is just around the corner and Cannatron is so excited for what the future holds. However, 2021 was quite the year for our team's philanthropic efforts. The Ooze Foundation pulled off some amazing events that truly brought holiday magic to the season. Our team had such a wonderful time working with non-profits to help support Michigan residents who need it most. Let's take a look back at some of our efforts and the impact we've had on the community!
Breast Cancer Awareness
Every October, Ooze donates proceeds from pink and purple products sold to the Shades of Pink Foundation, an organization that support Michigan women struggling with breast cancer. This Metro Detroit-based Non-Profit helps patients pay for their mortgage, medical bills, insurance, child care, and treatment transportation. This year, we were able to give our biggest donation yet of $20,265 which will support over 100 women!
No-Shave November
When Halloween comes to an end, the Ooze Foundation participates in No-Shave November. For the entire month, Ooze donates all the proceeds from every teal product sold to the Matthew Hill Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on raising cancer awareness. This year, we were able to raise $22,000 for men struggling with testicular cancer which is our biggest donation to date!
Oozegiving
On November 23rd, the Ooze Foundation hosted our annual “Oozegiving” food drive where we gave out full turkey dinners to 300 underprivileged families in Detroit. Each family received a Thanksgiving turkey, a reusable Ooze bag packed full of sides like macaroni and cheese, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, and an apple pie for dessert.
Our team knows that the hard-working people of Detroit are struggling now more than ever due to the pandemic. Our mission is to help alleviate the stress of the holidays and lessen the burden of poverty that weighs so heavily on our community. By providing these 300 families with a delicious Thanksgiving meal, we hope to help make their Thanksgiving day special!
Oozemas
On December 19th, the Ooze Foundation hosted our third annual Holiday Toy Drive we like to call “Oozemas”. While it wasn’t feasible to throw a big party inside, we were able to host a drive-thru event with Santa and one of his reindeer! Parents drove right up to receive gifts for their kids while the little ones got to experience holiday magic with a greeting from Mr. Claus himself. This year, we handed out 1,000 gifts which is 200 more presents than last year!
Even though the nation is still dealing with a pandemic this year, the Ooze Foundation team is so proud of everything we were able to accomplish despite the circumstances. The holiday season can be a stressful time for underprivileged communities and we want to do everything we can to help. By supporting those who need it most, we can achieve the Ooze Foundation’s goal of easing the burdens of poverty in southeast Michigan, with an emphasis on homelessness and child poverty.
